COLLIERS RAISES $40,000 for JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT

Victoria, BC- Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC) is pleased to announce they will receive all proceeds raised from the Colliers International 22nd Annual Charity Golf Tournament – Building Youth for the Future. The tournament took place on Thursday June 24th at Cordova Bay Golf Course in Victoria and raised $40,000 to support Junior Achievement programming.

Specifically, the funds raised are designated to support the JA Titan program offered to Grade 11 and 12 students in Victoria high schools. The JA Titan program is the ultimate learning experience where students take on the role of senior managers in an ever changing, technology driven marketplace. Designed to simulate actual business situations, JA Titan serves up real and sometimes very tough decisions related to production, capital investment, marketing, research and development and more.

In addition to funding the in-school JA Titan program, proceeds from the Colliers International Tournament will support sending JA students from Victoria to attend the provincial business competition hosted by JABC and held annually in Vancouver. As well, funds will support sending local Achievers to Junior Achievement’s International Youth Leaders Conference where top Achievers from Canada and around the world unite to participate in a week-long interactive business and entrepreneurship event.

“Junior Achievement has played an important role on Vancouver Island for many years,” says Jan Bell-Irving, President of JABC. “From the beginning the business community, in partnership with local educators, recognized this as an opportunity to help students build business skills and prepare them for the work place. Thanks to this generous gift from Colliers International, JA can continue to make an impact in the communities that benefit from our programs.”
