Students Receive Honours at Celebrate JA!

Jun 11, 2010 - Vancouver, BC – Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC) is pleased to announce ‘Phresh’ has won the coveted 2010 CIBC Student Venture of the Year Award. This after-school program was staffed by high school students from Burnaby, Vancouver and New Westminster.

Hosted by Accenture in Burnaby, the group experienced many challenges in organizing their departments, establishing standards for approving designs and setting up a printing process they could do themselves. After many set-backs they persevered in bringing their customer-designed t-shirts to market, and soldiered on to a successful wrap-up for their company. Their clear and simple approach to reporting also resulted in the company receiving the award for Outstanding Financial Reporting.

The award was presented last night at the “Celebrate JA!” event, sponsored by CIBC and held at SFU, Segal Graduate School of Business in downtown Vancouver. Over 50 students were honoured at the reception for their outstanding performance, creativity, and demonstration of business acumen. To be eligible for JABC’s highly competitive and prestigious awards, each of the students participated in one or both of JABC’s high school programs, JA TITAN or Company Program – A Student Venture.
