2010 Business Laureates Announced

British Columbia– Junior Achievement of British Columbia (JABC) is recognizing the business leadership and legacy of the province’s most esteemed businessmen. Recognizing BC Business leaders for outstanding contributions to the province and country since 2006, this is the 5th Annual Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. The 2010 Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame inductees are:

Alex A. Campbell, O.B.C., LL.D.

Jack Diamond, C.C., O.B.C., LL.D. (1909 – 2001)

Robert (Bob) H. Lee, C.M., O.B.C., B.Comm., LL.D. Chairman, Prospero Group

John (Jack) W. Poole, O.C., O.B.C., B.Sc. (1933 – 2009) Chairman, Board of Directors Vancouver Organizing Committee for the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games

These business leaders are recognized for their business excellence and honoured for their outstanding business achievements and enduring contributions to our province and country. The 2010 nomination process was guided by our Laureate Sponsor, Pinton Forrest & Madden. Final Laureate selection was made by an independent committee consisting of previous Laureate winners: Joseph Segal C.M., O.B.C., C.B.H.F., O.ST.J., LL.D. (HON), (President, Kingswood Capital Corporation), Irving (Ike) Barber O.C., O.B.C., (Director, Slocan Forest Products), Michael Audain, O.B.C., LL.D.(Chairman, Polygon Homes Ltd.) , David Black, MBA (Founder, President & Owner, Black Press Ltd.) and non-Laureate participant Sarah Morgan-Silvester (Chair, of the Port Metro Vancouver Board)

The new members will be formally inducted into the Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame at the 5th Annual Gala Dinner & Induction Ceremonies in Vancouver on May 19, 2010 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver. Presented by Scotiabank Group and Fasken Martineau, the evening will include an elegant reception, Guest Speaker, and commemorative videos produced by Oh Boy Productions.

Other sponsors include: media sponsors The Vancouver Sun, The Province, Global BC, BCBusiness Magazine. Proceeds from this year’s gala ensure Junior Achievement remains a recognized leader in bridging the talent gap by delivering business education programs to young people in BC.

The Business Laureates of BC Hall of Fame is an initiative created by Junior Achievement of British Columbia to honour BC business leaders who have made outstanding contributions to our Province and country.
